Tourist boss’s bar on English
A CORNISH tourist chief has urged staff to stop referring to Cornwall as a county and to try not to mention England when promoting the area.
In a memo, Visit Cornwall boss Malcolm Bell said the region should stand alone from the rest of the United Kingdom in an effort to attract more visitors.
He said: “This isn’t a ban. We just want to make sure that in a field full of poppies, Cornwall is the tallest.”
Cornwall until the 11th century maintained close links with Britanny and Ireland, resisting rule from Saxon and Norman England right up until late medieval times.
