Thief steals Bible from woman, 77

An ELDERLY woman was in hospital yesterday after a thief stole her Bible as she walked home from church.

The 77-year-old was walking with the aid of a frame in Haringey, London, when a man grabbed her bag containing the Bible, pulling her to the ground.

He ran off while the pensioner was left calling out for help.

Detective Inspector Jason Turkington said: “This was a depraved attack on a clearly vulnerable member of the community.”

The woman was taken to hospital with back pain after the robbery on Tuesday.
