‘The camera doesn’t lie’, says Anton Ferdinand
FOOTBALLER Anton Ferdinand has spoken out on Twitter after Chelsea’s John Terry was found guilty of using racist language against him.
The Queens Park Rangers defender used the social network to hit out at abuse he claimed to have received since Terry was given a four-match ban and £220,000 fine by an independent Football Association panel following the pair’s altercation almost a year ago.
Ferdinand said yesterday: “On a serious note people need 2 read the facts before they send stupid tweets 2 me with liar and grass in it footage don’t lie!”
Ferdinand’s tweet appeared to refer to a YouTube video that showed the Chelsea captain using the phrase “f****** black c***” towards him during last October’s meeting at QPR’s Loftus Road ground.
Terry was cleared in July by Westminster Magistrates Court of uttering the words as an insult, but that did not prevent him being found guilty of a similar charge under FA rules on Thursday. Terry, who has denied all charges against him, was still deciding yesterday whether to appeal the panel’s verdict.
His manager, Roberto Di Matteo, refused to answer questions on the matter at yesterday’s press conference prior to today’s Premier League game at Arsenal.
