Supermodel crashed car after drinking

Former supermodel Paula Hamilton was yesterday banned from driving after she admitted drunkenly crashing into her neighbour’s glass conservatory.

The 51-year-old, who was the face of Volkswagen cars in iconic TV adverts in the 1980s, was disqualified from driving for 14 months.

Hamilton admitted driving with excess alcohol after a blood test, taken after the crash near her home in Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire, on 4 September, proved positive.

Analysis showed that she had 106mg of alcohol in her blood per 100ml. The legal limit is 80mg. Yesterday the former model claimed she could not remember getting into the car or leaving it after the accident.

Peter Bird, prosecuting, told magistrates that when paramedics arrived on the scene, they could not find the driver with the wreckage of the car and alerted the police.
