Spam e-mails show relentless rise
THE number of spam e-mails has reached record levels, with nine out of ten messages being junk, a survey has found.
More than a third of all junk e-mails are trying to sell medication such as the sex-drug Viagra. Just behind, at 33 per cent, were finance or "phishing" e-mails, which try to con people into handing over their bank account or credit card details.
Despite e-mail providers having sophisticated anti-spam software, the research by the firm Ipswitch said junk e-mails clogging up inboxes is at a record high and looks set to rise.
