Six planes hit by fireworks

SIX aircraft have been hit by fireworks in UK airspace in the past ten years.

It was revealed in a Commons written reply yesterday that a plane was hit at 300ft this year and suffered scorched paint. In the same period, there were 33 reports of fireworks "in the vicinity" of passenger aircraft - in one case, at 8,000ft.
