Sex shop fury at Jobcentre 'ban'
SEX toys and lingerie chain Ann Summers yesterday asked the High Court to outlaw a "ridiculous" ban on it advertising for staff in Jobcentres.
Lawyers for the company protested at the unfairness of it being singled out whilst competitors such as Selfridges and Liberty had sex toys "selling like hot cakes", with no suggestion that their advertisements should be banned.
Reserving his decision, Mr Justice Newman, at the High Court in London, said he would give his judgment after 3 June. Kate Gallafent, appearing for Ann Summers Ltd, argued that the ban was unlawful, unfair and illogical as the company was engaged in a legitimate business.
