Schools' closure plan under fire
THE MP and MSP for the Western Isles have attacked a decision by the islands' council to close seven secondary schools over the next three years. Western Isles Council voted late on Thursday to shut all its junior secondaries, which teach pupils in S1 and S2.
The council has been debating the fate of schools at Bayble, Back, Shawbost, Sgoil an Loch and Lionel, in Lewis; Daliburgh High in South Uist and Paible in North Uist for a year.
