Ryanair figures defy ash-cloud closures
RYANAIR flew 6.44 million people in May compared to 5.51 million in the same month last year, it was yesterday revealed.
The budget airline's load factor for the month remained unchanged at 81 per cent.
However, Ryanair again criticised the decision to close European airspace after the volcano eruption in Iceland.
It said on its website: "May 2010 figures include up to 250,000 passengers who were booked to fly on flights which were cancelled due to the unnecessary closures of parts of EU airspace following the volcanic eruptions in Iceland."
