Rower Charlie Pitcher claims solo Atlantic record

A 47-YEAR-OLD father of four has claimed victory in a transatlantic rowing race.

Charlie Pitcher completed his journey of 2,548 nautical miles between the Canary Islands and Antigua, setting a new UK solo record. He arrived on land suffering from sleep deprivation and salt sores on his hands.
