Ronnie Barker’s son in court on child porn charges

The son of comedy actor Ronnie Barker was remanded in custody yesterday, charged with making
indecent images of children.

Adam Barker, 44, of no fixed address, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, after eight years on the run, charged with five counts of making indecent images – two in the highest
category of seriousness.

Barker, the actor’s youngest son, was remanded in custody yesterday until 21 August, when he will be committed to crown court.

It is alleged that a computer seized from Barker’s West
London home in 2003 had
thousands of indecent images of children.

Two images were level five – the highest category – while 24 were at level four, the court heard.

Barker was interviewed and released on bail until June 2004, but did not return, not even for his parents’ funerals. No plea was entered yesterday and there was no application for bail for Barker, who wore glasses and a pale shirt over a white
T-shirt.

The 44-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for a committal hearing on 21 August.
