Release raises hope for Scots hostage

IRAQI officials have released a Shiite militant leader, raising hopes that Scot Alan McMenemy the last of five British hostages captured in Baghdad more than two years ago, will be returned alive.

Qais al-Khazali is the leader of Asaib al-Haq, the Shiite militia group believed to be behind the 2007 abduction of computer programmer Peter Moore and his four bodyguards in Baghdad. Three of the guards are dead.
