Probe after ships crash

AN investigation was under way today after two ships collided in the English Channel, coastguards said today.

The collision occurred last night between the 21,000 tonne bulk carrier Southern Star, which is registered in Panama, and 38,900 tonne Liberian-registered bulk carrier the Docelake.

No-one was hurt and both ships were able to continue their journeys into port.

Coastguards said the damage to both ships was limited to "bent metal".
