Police arrest youth after teenager stabbed to death
A YOUTH was arrested today by police investigating the murder of teenager Adam Regis who was stabbed to death in east London.
Scotland Yard said the youth, who is believed to be in his teens, was arrested this morning at an address in East Ham. He is in custody at an east London police station.
Adam, 15, the nephew of Olympic sprinter John Regis, was found fatally wounded on Saturday night in a residential area not far from West Ham United's football ground in Upton Park, east London.
He was taken to Newham General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Adam was on his way home from a visit with friends to the cinema in Beckton, east London, when he was attacked.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.
Detectives believe Adam was attacked close to where he was found and not on the bus he had been travelling on with friends.
Police are hunting two men who were seen running away from the scene of the attack.
The murdered schoolboy was described as a model pupil and a "delightful" and "bubbly" young man by headteacher Joan Deslandes, of Kingsford Community School.
