Plumber to face terror charges

A PLUMBER is to stand trial at the Old Bailey on a series of terrorist and firearms offences.

Kazi Nurur Rahman, 28, a British national, of Newham, east London, is alleged to have had a stash of weapons, including three Uzi sub-machineguns, 3,000 rounds of ammunition, three silencers and nine magazines. Under section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000, Rahman is accused of having entered into or become concerned in an arrangement to make these weapons available for terrorist purposes.

He would have known or had "reasonable cause to suspect" that they might be used for terrorism, it is alleged.

He is also charged with possessing an Uzi in order to help commit, prepare or instigate an act of terrorism.

Rahman is further charged with conspiracy to possess three Uzi firearms and ammunition for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation or the instigation of an act of terrorism.

The first hearing of the case will be on 19 December.
