Paedophile strikes again - after 13 years
A PAEDOPHILE who abused his victim again after she plucked up the courage to tackle him 13 years later has been banned from being alone with any female under the age of 21.
John Simpson was made the subject of a sweeping Sexual Offences Protection Order at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday.
The court was told that Simpson, 42, a lorry driver, had a penchant for under-age girls and young women and posed a serious danger to them.
The sheriff, Lindsay Foulis, said it was clear Simpson targeted naive and immature women, and he banned him from solo contact for ten years. He said that because of Simpson's age, he would be unlikely to meet women half his age in the course of a normal relationship.
"It seems that you constitute a considerable and ongoing risk," the sheriff said. As well as imposing the order, he jailed Simpson for 80 days - the maximum term available to him.
He also ordered that Simpson have no contact with the woman who became his victim for a second time this year.
She had spent more than a decade living with the trauma of being abused by Simpson when she was 13. She tried to confront her demons earlier this year by meeting him after 13 years - only for him to carry out another sex attack on her.
Hannah Kennedy, prosecuting, said the meeting, in a public place, initially went well and his victim was feeling positive enough about it to accept an invitation to go to Simpson's home in Rae Street, Perth.
However, once she was there, he indecently assaulted her.
