One man dies and second hurt in nightclub shooting

A MAN has died in hospital and another man was being treated for gunshot wounds last night after a shooting at a nightclub.

West Midlands Police said both men were shot at the Tropical Harmony club in Bilston, near Wolverhampton, at about 4.30am yesterday.

A force spokesman said the injuries suffered by the surviving man were not thought to be life-threatening. Issuing an appeal for witnesses, the spokesman said a major investigation had been launched into the incident at the High Street club.

The spokesman added: "It is believed there were around 50 people in the club at the time and police are appealing for these people, and anybody else who may have witnessed anything, to come forward."

The shooting comes a year after three people were injured when shots were fired at the nightclub.

Two men, both aged in their 40s, and a 25-year-old woman were taken to hospital following the incident on 29 September last year, but escaped serious injuries, said police.
