New hospital cleaner cuts levels of MRSA by a third

A NEW cleaning product could cut rates of a deadly hospital superbug by a third, according to research.

Levels of MRSA are cut by a third if wards are treated with Byotrol rather than standard bleach, a study at Manchester Royal Infirmary found.

Thousands of patients still die from superbug infections every year, despite recent progress in tackling the problem.

Byotrol was used on two wards, while two others were treated with normal bleach.
