New look for The Scotsman
THE Scotsman today announces some changes to the newspaper to reflect the growing interests and concerns of its readers.
From Monday, the newspaper will introduce a number of clearly defined sections which build on its reputation for first-class journalism.
A newly-enhanced Debate& Opinion section will deliver on the newspaper's promise to be at the centre of discussion on the issues that concern modern Scotland, the UK and the wider world.
Our regular insightful writers will be supplemented by forensic reporting and opinion from around the world.
A new Life&Arts section is to be created to showcase both the excellence of the newspaper's feature writing and the coverage of that most important of lifeblood for Scotland – culture.
In addition, the Business section is to be given an overhaul to reflect the importance The Scotsman places on the economic life of the country. A new bold front page for the section will support this.
News, foreign, sport and all other advertising and editorial platforms will still be present, but will be signposted more clearly for readers.
Mike Gilson, the Editor, said: ''These changes are part of the evolution of The Scotsman to reflect the interest of our readers. We have asked quite a lot of you what you want to see and hope you like the results. The rigour and professionalism of our journalism remains the same.
''What we are doing is enhancing the service we provide so that it is clear for news, sport, business, debate and culture, the five big topics if you like, that The Scotsman can be guaranteed to deliver."
