Muslims hold police debate over searches
ISLAMIC leaders were to meet police today to discuss the impact "stop and search" procedures have on Muslims using a Scottish airport.
The Scottish-Islamic Foundation said there had been growing concern about the type of interviews Muslim passengers faced as they went in and out of Glasgow Airport.
It hopes tonight's "Question Time" style forum at Glasgow Central Mosque will give different groups a chance to air their views on the issue.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill and police representatives are on the panel, alongside Allan Burnett, ACPOS head of counter-terrorism, Alan Miller of the Scottish Human Rights Commission and Bashir Maan, of Glasgow Central Mosque.
Humza Yousaf, public affairs director of the Scottish-Islamic Foundation, said: "Having been stopped myself three times I know the feelings."
