McKinnon's mother makes extradition plea
THE mother of computer hacker Gary McKinnon came face-to-face with the Home Secretary yesterday and pleaded with him to halt her son's extradition to the US.
Janis Sharp warned Alan Johnson that her son would "rather be dead" than sent for trial. Ms Sharp made her emotional plea as she appeared before MPs on the Home Affairs Committee.
She told them Glasgow-born Mr McKinnon, who has Asperger's Syndrome, was already fragile mentally and would get worse if he was extradited. But Mr Johnson defended the extradition treaty with the US.
