Man held over woman’s murder in County Durham

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a grandmother was found dead in her home on Christmas Eve, police have said.

Officers discovered 48-year-old Lesley Caile and an injured man at her home in Hunwick, County Durham, on Monday.

Ms Caile worked at Durham County Council’s Children’s and Young People’s Services Department and had two children and three grandchildren.

The injured man was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, with injuries which were not life-threatening. He was in a stable condition.
