Loco may fly to US
OWNERS of the Flying Scotsman have warned the famous steam engine may be heading for America as plans for a new home in Edinburgh look set to fall through.
Flying Scotsman plc had wanted to open a 2 million visitor centre next to Waverley Station for the historic locomotive.
The city council has granted permission for the museum, but the company said Network Rail, which owns some of the land near the proposed site, has refused to give the go-ahead.
Network Rail said any plans would be the responsibility of the Strategic Rail Authority and Scottish Executive.
