THE world’s thinnest television will go on sale in the UK in July, in a European first for LG’s OLED set.

The 55-inch screen, the first of its kind, will cost £9,999. Harrods in London are currently accepting pre-orders for the screen, which begins shipping to the USA and Korea imminently.

The OLED set is just 4.5mm thick, and has been described as the ‘ultimate display’.

OLED displays can provide brighter colours and better contrast than LCD or plasma televisions.

The LG set offers full 3D capability, and has an edge-to-edge display with no border or bezel.
