Killer Brady hits at plans for TV Moors Murders film
MOORS murderer Ian Brady has complained about plans to depict his crimes in a new TV drama.
The 67-year-old killer has written to Granada Television objecting to the forthcoming programme, See No Evil: The Story Of The Moors Murders, which will be broadcast on the 40th anniversary of Brady's trial alongside Myra Hindley.
Brady said publicity about his crimes is "now rivalling Coronation Street in longevity". He added: "The true facts have never been divulged, only speculation in numerous books."
A spokesman for Granada said that the TV company had written to Brady's solicitor to inform him of the film and said the programme would be a "sober and unsensational account" of the 1960s murders. "We do not need consent, release or a contract," the spokesman added.
Filming will start in Manchester later this year, and the show will be screened in 2006.
Hindley died in November 2002, while Brady is serving his life sentence at a high-security hospital.
