KEVIN Bridges was forced to cut a show short after constant heckling from a member of the audience disrupted the event.

Fans of the Scots comedian were left disappointed after the 28-year-old comic walked off stage during his concert at the Millennium Forum in Derry following repeated abuse from a woman in the audience.

According to members of the audience, Glasgow-born Bridges left the stage after putting up with the woman’s heckling from the beginning of the show.

Fans claimed the woman was not removed from the venue, allowing her to continue shouting at Bridges, who eventually walked off the stage.

It is understood that the woman was eventually asked to leave the Millennium Forum by event staff.

The venue’s Chief Executive David McLaughlin told the Derry Journal that it had been a ‘disappointing’ incident.

He added: “We appreciate patrons’ respect for each other and the artist on stage and it was disappointing that one member of the audience did not extend this courtesy on Friday evening.

“We take all feedback on board and work hard to ensure all our patrons and performers enjoy their experience at our venue.”

Fans of Bridges have been posting supportive messages on his Facebook page, with Shaun Logie writing: “I attended last night’s show in Derry...absolutely a disgrace on how or why the girl wasn’t removed before you had to make decision to leave stage!”

Maura Farren added: “So embarrassed by last night’s heckler. Please do not let it put you off Derry. We love you here.”

However, others were angry at the concert being cut short, with Norah Mcginty writing: “So disappointed you decided to cut short the gig tonight...a lot of people very annoyed. We deserve a refund or tickets to another night.”

Bridges is set to play the fourth of a five-night stretch at the Forum this evening.

The comedian’s agent has been contacted for comment.
