Kerb crawler laws net 33

POLICE in Edinburgh have arrested more than 30 drivers in Leith in the first year after new laws aimed at cracking down on kerb crawlers came into effect.

Officers caught 33 suspects since the legislation came into force last October, with men who are convicted facing fines of up to 1,000 and risking a criminal record.

A further 19 women have also been charged with soliciting offences.

However, support workers fear the operation has moved the problem to other parts of the city.
