IVF 'raises risk of dangerous low placenta'

IVF treatment may increase the risk of developing the potentially life-threatening condition low lying placenta, experts warned today.

A Norwegian study found evidence that techniques used in assisted reproduction may be directly linked to an increase in placenta praevia.

The condition occurs when the placenta partially or fully covers the cervix and can be harmful to mother and baby.
