A SEQUEL to the classic animated film The Snowman is to be screened on Christmas Eve along with the original.
The new film, The Snowman and the Snowdog, is set 30 years on from the original which told the story of a boy who makes a snowman that comes to life and takes him to meet Father Christmas.
In the sequel, a boy builds a snowman together with a dog, in memory of his pet which has just died. When the snowman comes to life, the boy flies over the London Eye holding on to his dog and joins a meeting of snowmen at the North Pole. When the snowman melts away, he is left with a dog collar as a memento.
The film has been hailed as “absolutely super” by author of The Snowman Raymond Briggs.
Just as the original animation was accompanied by the song Walking in the Air, the latest film will have a solo and musical score.
