IN BRIEF: Woman fined for stealing fire engine as crew dealt with flood

South Wales: A 45-year-old woman was fined after she admitted stealing a fire engine while its crew dealt with a flood near her home.

Catherine Durant was "irate" when she crashed the fire engine into a brick wall.

Norfolk: An RSPCA inspector said magistrates were right to lock up two youths who chased and killed a pregnant sheep.

Lucille Reed said the sentence sent out a correct message.

Cambridge: The proportion of state school pupils offered places at Cambridge University has risen by four per cent this year. In total, 59 per cent of admissions were from state schools and colleges.
