High–flyer: Sky’s the limit for Scots golden girl Heather as she enjoys adrenalin-charged Tornado flight

Olympic gold medal winner Heather Stanning took to the skies in a Tornado fighter jet yesterday above her hometown’s RAF base in Lossiemouth, Moray.

Stanning, who won gold for Team GB at the London Games with Helen Glover in the women’s rowing pairs, was invited to be a co-pilot for the day by station commander Group Captain Ian Gale.

After the flight, she said: “It was so surreal. Everything seemed in slow motion.”
