Herbalists bid to beat new 'quack' rules
HERBALISTS took their campaign for legal recognition to Holyrood in a bid to fend off European rules they say will harm them.
A group called for support outside the Scottish Parliament yesterday, with some dressed in Tudor outfits to highlight that little has changed for them in the centuries since Henry VIII's Quacks' Charter.
A new EU law in 2011 will ban the sale of herbal medicines except licensed "traditional" remedies.
The Department of Health is holding a UK-wide consultation to establish if the public wants regulation on herbalism.
