Comedian Lenny Henry, right, collected his Open University degree yesterday - six years after starting it.

The 48-year-old star was awarded a BA (Hons) in English literature.

He was among 900 students who attended the graduation ceremony at London's Barbican Centre.

"I am so proud that I have finally reached graduation day," Henry said.

"After six years of hard work, I can finally watch telly in the evening and go to the pictures. I can now read a book without having to put Post-It notes on every other page. Hoorah! I am also incredibly proud to be in such great company - when people have worked so hard, a ceremony like this is the ideal thing to celebrate their achievement."
