Gong goes well with Halo for Beyoncé
WEARING a demure black dress a million miles away from her earlier stage outfit of red corset and suspenders, Beyoncé holds her best song award for Halo at the 16th MTV Europe Music Awards last night.
The superstar scooped three awards including best female and best video for her No 1 smash Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).
The event, one of the music world's most glitzy bashes, was held in Berlin this year to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. US singer Katy Perry, who is dating comedian Russell Brand, hosted the awards.
Irish rockers U2 picked up the best live act award hours after treating 10,000 fans to a free concert in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
However, there was anger because many fans found their view obscured by a high metal barrier.
Beyonc's husband, hip hop star Jay-Z, won best urban act. He told the audience: "I look forward to the day when all those walls come down."
Actress-turned-rock chick Juliette Lewis presented the best alternative gong to Placebo, who beat Muse.
