Girl shot by Taleban has surgery on head

A SCHOOLGIRL who was shot in the head by a Taleban gunman in Pakistan has undergone successful surgery, doctors have said.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham confirmed Malala Yousufzai, 15, underwent cranial reconstruction and cochlear implantation procedures on Saturday, lasting five hours. A hospital spokesman said they were pleased with her progress.
