Hamilton House opens

Hamilton House, a 17th century villa in Prestonpans, is to be opened to the public.

Saved from demolition by the National Trust for Scotland in 1937, the house has been a private residence ever since.

Stephen Copp, manager for the trust’s Little Houses Improvement Scheme, said: “The open day provides a rare opportunity for public access to a building of national significance.”

Hamilton House will be open between 10am and 4pm on March 24.
