General Election 2010: All a-Twitter over Tory web advert

NOT a good day for John Prescott and his attempts to sabotage the Conservative machine.

The former deputy PM used a Twitter posting to urge Labour supporters to "click" on a Tory advert placed on Google. As each click costs the advertiser 50p, the idea was to get so many Labour people to do so that it would bankrupt the Conservative campaign. However, the attempt has backfired as embarrassed Labour Party officials made clear their disapproval. A source told Channel 4 News that the party has absolutely no control over what the former deputy leader says on his Twitter feed. "What he decides to say is his own business."
