Furniture advert banned over swear claim

A POSTER for a furniture shop with the slogan "sofakinggood" was banned today after the advertising watchdog ruled it was offensive.

The Advertising Standards Authority banned the poster for Discovery Ltd in Belfast after saying it could be viewed as containing swearing.

It received seven complaints from people in County Antrim and County Down and ruled the poster "was likely to cause serious or widespread offence".

The company had argued it used the slogan because it sold sofas, its customers considered it to be "king" and it was "good" at its trade.
