Food labels must improve
THE guidance surrounding food labelling must be tightened, rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead said yesterday.
His comments came after he hosted a food summit in Edinburgh.
Mr Lochhead said that consumers need to know with confidence which country their food comes from.
"It's clear that some current labelling fails to deliver the clarity of information that the consumer deserves," he said.
"The Scottish Government will continue to push this and I have asked the FSA (Food Standards Agency) to revisit their labelling guidance to ensure it's clearly understandable."
