Family plead for release of hostage Bigley's body

THE family of murdered British hostage Ken Bigley appealed for the release of his body today to allow them to put an end to the "sad story".

Mr Bigley’s mother, Lil, and brothers, Phil and Stan, told how his body was yet to be found.

The brutal murder of 62-year-old Mr Bigley, who was taken hostage in Baghdad by Iraqi militants, shocked the world last year.

The engineer, from Liverpool, was captured along with two US colleagues on September 16 by the Tawhid and Jihad group.

The Americans were killed the following week and two weeks later Mr Bigley was beheaded, despite his family making several appeals for his safe return.

Mrs Bigley said: "No matter what we say now, nothing will bring Ken back.

"But the sad part of it is we haven’t had a burial, we can’t find his body. And that would really put an end to the sad story."
