Energy leaflet broke rules
AN NPOWER leaflet promoting wind power broke advertising rules because its carbon-offset claim was inaccurate, the industry watchdog will rule today.
The energy giant's direct mail claimed its wind-power scheme would help to prevent the release of 33,000 tonnes of a year. But a Devon-based campaign group complained the figure was out of date because gas, not coal, was the fuel being replaced by wind power. The Advertising Standards Authority found the newsletter broke rules on truthfulness, environmental claims and substantiation.
