Neil Lennon breaks silence on Celtic turmoil and insists he can turn form around

Neil Lennon has spoken for the first time about Celtic’s form, the club’s exit from the Betfred Cup, and the ugly scenes outside Parkhead following the defeat to Ross County.

Previewing the Hoops' trip to Italy to face AC Milan in a dead rubber Europa League clash, Lennon insisted he can turn things around.

Lennon said: “On the scenes on Sunday we were disappointed, we were hurt. I understand the frustrations of the supporters because we're not on a great run at the minute.

"But it serves no purpose, particularly for the players. I’m old enough and big enough to take criticism and abuse, Some of it justified, some of it over the top.

"We're all in agreement: we must do better, and we have to do that with results and performances.

"It only takes a flick of a switch. I think we're lacking a little bit of confidence and belief but it can turn around very quickly and then it’s baby steps after that: build, build, build, build, build.

“Tomorrow we are looking for a performance and a result. We are confident we can turn it around and confident we can go to Italy and put in a good performance.”

Addressing his own position, Lennon added: “For 20 years I’ve done everything in my power to bring success to the club and the fans.

"That's not going to change on the run of a bad month or people being upset about my style of management. They’re just voicing their opinions.

"The players are working so hard to turn things around and they're feeling it a little bit, and they need my support as well.”
