A NEW hashtag has taken Twitter by storm as users post pictures of their dogs at polling stations.

Unsure about the rules surrounding whether dogs can accompany their owners inside polling stations, many people have taken to tying up their dogs outside as they go in to cast their vote.

Much to the delight of Twtiter users, this has led to a speight of dogs looking on outside polling stations as they wait for the return of their owner and has led to hundreds of pictures being posted online.

The hashtag #DogsAtPollingStations has now becoming a hot trending topic.

Other hashtags include #JeSuisEd and #ElectionSelfie have also been trending. The former tag has been used on pictures of voters taken with food in solidarity with Ed Miliband’s infamous incident eating a bacon sandwich. The later has seen a storm of “selfie” images taken by people outside polling stations after casting their vote.
