Diabetes numbers increase
THE number of people diagnosed with diabetes has shot up by more than 145,000 in a year, figures showed today. GP data showed there are more than 2.6 million people registered with diabetes in the UK.
More than 5.2 million people are also registered as obese, meaning one in ten people are being treated for obesity, the charity Diabetes UK said.
