Court threat for politician No 7

ANOTHER parliamentarian was facing the possibility of prosecution last night, after police handed a file relating to alleged expenses abuse to prosecutors.

The announcement came as four Liberal Democrat MPs were ordered to pay back thousands of pounds in "windfall" payments which they received for giving up cheap rents on their taxpayer-funded second homes.

Scotland Yard said the file on an as yet unnamed politician was given to the Crown Prosecution Service yesterday afternoon. It was the seventh to be sent to prosecutors by the Metropolitan Police's specialist crime wing.
