Civil servants close in on strike action

The threat of a fresh wave of strikes by tens of thousands of civil servants is set to come closer this week when union leaders meet to consider industrial action over jobs, pay and pensions.

The executive of the Public and Commercial Services union will meet to decide whether to hold a ballot of its 250,000 members.
