Cancer that 'comes back from the dead'
A KEY mechanism identified by scientists which allows tumours to survive may help explain how some cancers bounce back after chemotherapy.
The research, reported in the British Journal of Cancer, shows that cancer can reverse a self-destruction process that commits normal cells to die. Programmed cell suicide, or apoptosis, allows the body to rid itself of damaged and potentially dangerous cells.
