Tycoon Arnold is knighted

CAR sales tycoon Sir Arnold Clark picked up a knighthood from the Queen - and then said he was heading straight back to work.

The 76-year-old entrepreneur had the honour bestowed on him at a ceremony in Edinburgh yesterday.

Sir Arnold was one of 77 recipients of honours at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Speaking after the ceremony, Sir Arnold said: "The Queen just asked me about what I do and I said I’d been 50 years in the motor trade. She said, ‘well it certainly doesn’t look as though you’ve been 50 years in the motor trade,’ which was quite a compliment."

Sir Arnold was supported on the day by his wife Mina and daughters Lucy and Cecelia.
