Britons in 'appalling' prison
BRITISH peace activists are being held in "appalling" conditions in an Israeli prison after being detained on a boat carrying aid to Gaza, their supporters said.
A group of 21 campaigners – including Nobel peace laureate Mairead Maguire from Northern Ireland, former US Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Theresa McDermott from Scotland – were seized off the coast of Gaza on Tuesday.
Israel has said the boat was trying to enter the Gaza Strip illegally. The Foreign Office said consular staff had visited six detained British nationals.
