Blend of acts for Mela Festival

A BLEND of local and international acts will be heading to Pilrig Park in Leith for this year's Mela Festival.

As well as the arts and cultural programme, the event on August 7-9, will include food stalls, children and family programme and a mini bazaar .

But today it emerged that one of the festival's major sponsors has withdrawn support.

Property giant Forth Ports, which is believed to have contributed around 50,000 to last year's event, has reportedly withdrawn all funding.

Chair of the Mela, Councillor Steve Cardownie, said: "There are very few other events that provide the spectacle of the Mela, along with extra areas of interest particularly for families."

The venue has been switched from Ocean Terminal because of tram works
